Jaipur has a working-class joint profile that's almost unique in India. The marble industry in Kishangarh and Jaipur's outskirts employs thousands. Workers absorb dust and stand for hours on hard surfaces — knees and lower backs pay the price. In the old city, generations of jewelry artisans and textile printers spend decades in identical postures.
Then there's the food. Jaipur is gloriously a city of dal-baati-churma, ghee, and rich gatte ka subzi. For 60+ Jaipur residents — particularly women — inflammation from a lifetime of this diet shows up as severe knee pain that gets labeled "arthritis" and sent for replacement.
When we land in Jaipur, we're bringing Ayurveda practitioners who understand local diet, dietitians who can adapt without taking away culture, and a council that knows the difference between "this needs surgery" and "this needs a smarter system around the patient".
