Lucknow's home life is built on the floor. Meals are eaten cross-legged. Namaz, prayers, and family gatherings happen on the floor. Older Lucknow homes have low charpais, low chowkis, and almost no high-back chairs. The result: hip and knee joints that take a different kind of daily load than NCR's chair-and-table culture.
