"After 8 years of trying everything, the council was clear: time for TKR."
— Ramesh Yadav, 61 · NIT Faridabad
Why this story matters
Ramesh's story is the inverse of most patients we feature. He didn't avoid surgery — his council verdict was the opposite: yes, you genuinely need it. That outcome happens in about 40% of our cases. The honesty of saying "yes, this time, surgery is right" matters as much as the honesty of saying no.
Before Orthosist
"I was a foreman at an auto-parts factory in Faridabad. Knee pain since 2016 — both knees, started slow, got progressively worse. I tried everything over 8 years: physio at three places, Ayurveda, knee belts, painkillers, even some home remedies. Some helped for a few months, none stuck."
"By 2024 my right knee couldn't take my weight. I retired early. A local doctor in NIT Faridabad recommended TKR. I was nervous — and I'd seen Orthosist posters at the bus stand. I thought: maybe they'll find something everyone else missed."
The Orthosist Council Verdict
Diagnosis: Right knee Grade 4 osteoarthritis — bone-on-bone in medial compartment. Left knee Grade 2-3. 8 years of failed conservative care documented.
Surgery required? Yes — TKR right knee is genuinely indicated. Left knee can wait, observe.
Recommended next steps: List of 3 credentialled surgeons + 4-week pre-op strengthening protocol to make recovery faster. Post-op rehab plan customized.
After surgery
"4 weeks of pre-op physio at home meant I went into the OT stronger than I'd been in 2 years. Surgery happened at a hospital Orthosist recommended (not theirs — they don't own clinics). 12 weeks of post-op rehab. By Week 14 I was walking 2 km a day. Today, 8 months post-op, I'm planting a vegetable garden behind my house."
"They could have said 'try Ayurveda one more time' and sold me their program. Instead they said 'no, you need surgery'. That honesty is why I trust them."
