"Started the program last month. Already off painkillers."
— Vandana Sethi, 45 · Jaypee Greens, Greater Noida
A common misdiagnosis
Vandana's case is a pattern we see often in younger patients (35–50): persistent knee pain gets labeled "early arthritis" based on minor MRI findings, when the actual issue is patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS) — a biomechanical problem, not a degenerative one. Treatment is completely different.
Before Orthosist
"I'm a chartered accountant — 14 years of desk work. Right knee pain started 6 months ago, mostly when going down stairs and after long sitting. The local orthopedic clinic said 'early arthritis, take painkillers, weight management'. I was 45 and being told my knees were already going."
"My husband works in tech and is a careful researcher. He found Orthosist on Google. We sent the MRI."
The Orthosist Council Verdict
Diagnosis: Right knee Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome (PFPS) — NOT arthritis. Cartilage looks normal on close MRI review. Significant quadriceps weakness, glute medius weakness, foot pronation contributing.
Surgery required? No — and arthritis label was wrong.
Path: 10-week targeted quadriceps + glute + foot biomechanics program. Custom orthotics. No painkillers, no Ayurveda needed.
Progress so far (Week 5)
Detailed assessment, custom orthotics ordered, initial exercise routine introduced.
Stair pain reduced 60%. Off all painkillers. Quad strength up 25%. Walking 3 km without flare-up.
Targeted: full pain-free function, return to occasional jogging.
"The wrong diagnosis would have followed me for life. The right one took 48 hours and was free."
